Tbilisi TV Tower

Tbilisi TV Tower, in Tbilisi, Georgia

The current TV Tower built in 1972 replaces an earlier iteration built in 1955. It was designed by Kyiv Research Institute of Metal Structures, the same team behind similar towers in Kyiv and Yerevan

It’s perched at the top of Mtatsminda hill (beside the amusement park) and you can see it from all of the main districts in town.  There are stairs which lead all the way up if you want a workout, but there’s also a funicular which still offers a great view of Tbilisi.

Apparently the government announced plans to open it up to tourism at some point, along with a redesign to add a restaurant, but I haven’t seen any evidence of that project going through as of July 2024.
